Well, here's kinda why it happens that way... lANCE mILLER, KCBS CBJLance has been a BBQ helper since he has been able to stand. Running sauces and tools out to his dad on the patio was his first job. So his first real high school job was naturally food related. He started busing tables at the best pizza joint in town and worked his way up to the leader in the kitchen. For the next five years he prepared anything and everything Italian and could be found most Saturday nights showing off his dough tossing skills in the kitchen window.
When not tossing pizza pies, he was always making something on the BBQ (his dad's BBQ that is). You name it, he has grilled or BBQed it. Lance enjoys making BBQ because he loves seeing the faces of people tasting a competition worthy meal for the first time and finding out it was prepared on his back patio! Fast forward a few years to a beautiful wife, two adorable daughters, a few degrees, a mundane desk job and PatioPitmasters.com was born. CHRIS BUDKA, KCBS CBJ, CPALike Lance, Chris has been grillin' since he was able to take his own diapers off. His restaurant experience spans over 8 years at the local mexican restaraunt. He was inspired by the likes of the food network and neighbors who thought they could BBQ, but, really had no idea. Chris bought his first WSM to see if he could make make BBQ better than his friends. And it turns out he had a good hunch. He smoked 'em. No pun intended.
Ruben Medoza, Ph.BPatio Pitmaster's official bouncer. Ruben can put down some BBQ. Which means he knows how to cook it. It's not uncommon for a tester brisket to go on the BBQ in time for brisket breakfast. Ruben has a trained palate for anything BBQ.
