This was the first annual Dana Point BBQ competition. They had to start a waiting list for teams that wanted to enter (we keep saying folks, BBQ is in its infancy stage).  Like all KCBS events, chicken, pulled pork, pork ribs, and brisket were all judged. From the video, it looks like it was a great event. 

We know for sure that 2 teams are PatioPitmasters.com alumuni.  That's right, they got their first how to BBQ lessons right here and have progressed to competing with the professional pitmasters.

Tried something new this weekend (kinda)...Patio Pimaster Chicken (of course) with chicken sausage. Sides of smoked squash, roma tomatoes, red onions, and garlic. A flavor overload.

On the smoker for 1 hour (I was using Guava and chunk of hickory)

Both pans after 1 hour of smoke.  They smelled so good!

Ready to eat! This was a great meal.  

College football and slow smoked chicken thighs - can you go wrong? So far I know the meat will be chicken, and I know I want to try a new veggie.  Other than that it is wide open.


I have feeling my counter-top will look something like this...

How are we gonna cook our chicken?  The only way we know how!
